ian jamison woodworkerVashon Vintage is a licensed and bonded sole proprietorship LLC that is based in the Greenwood neighborhood with access to a wood shop in Ballard. I am a local Seattle native and have lived in the N.W. for the majority of my adult life, but I have had many adventures around the globe.

After getting my degree in theatrical design I toured with Theater and Dance companies extensively around the US and abroad. I worked in the theatre as a Stage Manager for One Reel, Production Manager for WOMAD, and Technical Director for Teatro ZinZanni (the dinner theatre circus that has been in the Seattle area for the past 22 years). The reason you want to hire production people is that we get things done! Having run crews, made budgets, and wrangled talent for many years, now fixing issues with my hands on someone’s property is a welcome break from the world of circus.

I am a carpenter. As a builder I have transformed garages into studios, and barns into studios. I have built a couple of shops, mostly out of repurposed materials. I have a background in woodworking, wooden boat refinishing, some furniture building, and general house repairs. This work has taught me a lot about what works in repurposing spaces and what is practical in doing the work.

Another passion I have had over the years (besides Vintage Motorcycles, hence the word vintage in my business name) has been sailing and working on vintage wood boats. Refinishing bright work, varnishing spars and cabin woodwork is a meticulous and yet somehow rewarding process. I currently captain a two-station rowboat called a Wineglass Wherry, which is a lovely and relaxing vessel to spend time on.

I am available to the local homeowner that wants to fix the closet door, build a covering for the porch, repaint the old table, or refinish the vintage sailboat. Many years of working in various materials gives me the ability to have a creative working pallet as well as a practical eye on how to get a project completed and what it will take to get the work done.

In these difficult times, there is still much to be done on the house, garage, and shop/ studio. For many people, there is now time to put some thought into how to get some of these projects started. You can send me an email and I’ll set up a time to visit your site, look at your project, talk through a budget, look at scheduling and needed materials, and then get your project done!
